Tuesday night I was at work, trying to get rolls done and work on pies with the other baker. I got a phone call and hurriedly wiped my hands and bolted for the back room (where there's not so much noise).
"Hello?"
"Hi, this is Joel. I'm just wondering what kind of chocolate you would like."
Wow.
About 15 minutes later, he came to my work in his biker jacket, and handed me a bag with my FAVORITE chocolate. I told a couple of the girls what he'd done (thought of bringing chocolate for me and then BRINGING it!), and with squealy voices and huge smiles and bendy knees, they said, "Cute!!!"
With the overtime he has been having to work the past few weeks, the only times we are sure to see each other are Sundays and Wednesdays (at institute). So it was such a sweet gesture for him to bring me chocolate, just because.
Furthermore, yesterday I had a misalignment in my back and neck, so he showed up to my work before institute and had me drive his car to my house while HE rode my pink bike there, so we could meet up for institute . . . he didn't want me uncomfortable on my bike!

What a sweet guy. How are you doing, anyway, what with your fairly new life in Logan? I am going to try to put a coat on Emmett and see if he fits in his chair tomorrow (yeah, I haven't even tried yet)--if not, are you still up for designing something grand for him?
I wish some guy (Kendal) would call me and ask me what kind of chocolate I like.
Things are going pretty well for me. Just working -- it seems like I'm doing that all the time, though I did go to the mall today. I guess I don't get out that much, and I've never really fit in at malls with the teeny-boppers with perfect hair and tight designer jeans and wear-once lingerie tops. I'm not used to the cold weather yet, and I'm more than happy to help out with Emmett's coat (especially after feeling how miserable I was in the cold tonight, even with a jacket!). I know 51 degrees isn't THAT cold, but it's going to get colder! I have Wednesdays off for the rest of the month, and Thursday afternoons/evenings are free, unless I get called in or something.
Don't give up on Kendal -- remember, he did kill/discard that animal in your driveway, didn't he?
I don't understand guys. I worked in Oregon for a husband and wife at the quilt shop, and the wife was always telling me (in front of her husband) how he used to get her a white flower with a lavender bow when they were dating, but then he stopped after they were married. I tried to encourage him to get flowers for her (we were across the street from a florist, for Pete's sake!) but he would just tell ME to get her flowers. Well, it's just not the same coming from me. Same as a good-bye kiss. If I gave her one of those, I'd have been utterly destroyed, by both parties. Guys should just get flowers for girls, right? It's really a super-duper easy way to make girls fall in love again! Doing it not because you have to -- guys have NO IDEA the power they have over girls with just a simple gesture like that. Girls will WANT to do anything guys want them to do. It's a win-win!
Just out of curiosity, Sharlee: what kind of chocolate DO you like?
I like ANY kind of chocolate, including the nasty chocolate chips in my pantry that I snack on just about every day.
Isn't that funny, about the husband and wife. Do you think that if she was a really "fascinating" woman he would want to do those things for her again? Do you think it has something to do with HIM having to feel like a teenager in love again, in order to think of those thoughtful gestures? I dunno. I have tried being a "fascinating woman" and I did see results but he never brought me anything (although I did get some really wonderful love letters). When we were dating it was cracker jacks and roses. I would LOVE if he would bring me cracker jacks and roses again, just out of the blue! BUT I also know it will probably never happen, so I will be happy with what I get.
What a sweet thing to do! Joel is a very thoughtful man.
Chocolate. I haven't had any in a very, very long time. I had dairy (cheese) yesterday and now my face is IMMEDIATELY broken out. You don't know how lucky you are that you get chocolate! Enjoy it, Bethani! Enjoy it for me, okay?
That guy! Don't you just love love? And isn't it grand that feminine nature (for the most part) requires little else but a small bit of thoughtfulness to be superbly happy? And isn't it utterly confusing why most men don't ever get that? It's so simple, really. Maybe we don't make it clear enough to them that THAT is what we crave (chocolate & small acts of thoughtfulness). And what's this I gather about Rachel not getting to eat chocolate? You poor, poor soul. I don't know how you do it. Maybe I'll eat some chocolate for you too, dear. You know...as a service.
Amen to you, Andrea. I mean, when he's sweet like this (and when he turns on my seat warmer in the car, or he heats up water for hot cocoa, or he picks me up from work so I won't get too cold), I think, "What can I do for you?? How can I make YOU superbly happy??" I want to keep him around!
Oh, Andrea! You are so funny! You go right ahead and provide service to me by eating chocolate. I will appreciate it so much.
Actually, I did get to eat some dark chocolate (sans dairy) yesterday. It made me very happy. I guess I don't have to get rid of ALL of it!
